Hello everyone,
I’m The Blackraven, owner of The Blackraven’s Erotic Cafe, Blackraven’s Reviews, and Dark Divas Reviews. If you haven’t had a chance, be sure to drop by and visit us. We have redesigned two of our sites, which have a beautiful new home. The Cafe is up next and I promise you that you’ll love the new sexy design compliments of Laideebug Digital. Just click on the links above. Sorry! I can’t help myself. What can I say??? I love to pimp and I love the term “Big Pimping”. LOL!
Okay, that’s for another day. Well, I’m here because Eliza thought it would be cool if I dropped in and talked a little about Halloween and the paranormal. Obviously, with a name like The Blackraven, it would seem that I’d be a good choice. Right? I’m still not convinced, but here goes.
I’ve decided to chat about some of my craziest antics during Halloween and some of the movies that I like which involve the paranormal. I promise, if you hang in there with me, there’ll be a nice little treat for you at the end. You know…like “Trick or Treat!”
Let’s see…where to begin…
First, I must admit that I’m am completely and utterly obsessed with Anne Rice’s Interview With A Vampire. Now, when I say obsessed, I mean when the movie was originally released, I saw it on the big screen 10 (ten) times. That’s right! 10 times because I simply couldn’t get enough of Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise (before he went psycho on Opera’s couch) and Antonio Banderas. Hello, I’m anemic and need blood on a constant basis, so who wouldn’t want to spend eternity with these hotties. I completely understood their point of view. In addition, there is just something sexy about a dark, mysterious man who only comes out to play at night and has the power to fulfill your every desire. Know what I mean???? And wasn’t Kirsten Dunst just amazing as a child in her first major role as an actress. Well, don’t take my word for it…check out the original movie trailer.
Are you still with me? *evil grin* Doesn’t it make you just want to go and rent the movie right now, especially those of us who have an affinity for vamps. *Sigh*
Some of you might be wondering how my name came about. Well, as I said, I love the paranormal. One of my favorite movies and television shows is The Highlander. Adrian Paul is just sexy as sin and I wouldn’t have any problem being immortal with him for a lifetime and then some. But as you know, “There Can Only Be One”. Anyway, they did a spin off of the show called The Raven and since that was already taken, I decided to add a little color and make it even more mysterious. Some believe that a Blackraven is a sign of evil or bad luck, but I beg to differ and I think Adrian would as well. But don’t take my word for it. You be the judge as to whether or not he’s sexy-as-sin.
Finally, because I’m sure that you’re bored with me by now, I’ll tell you about a few of my favorite Halloween antics. Well, one of them has always been the trip we use to make to the cemetery as teenagers with the Ouija Board to see if we could contact some unknown ancestors’ spirit. Yeah, you can see where this is going. Usually, the only thing that we managed to do was scare the pants off of each other, but hey it was fun and it was Halloween. I don’t know who was scared the most, us because we didn’t know what might go bump in the night, or the deceased because a bunch of rowdy teenagers were disturbing their peace…and people always say they can sleep or rest when their dead. It’s obvious, they never met the rat pack that I hung out with in high school. LOL!
I guess my second fondest memory is when I was a younger and participated in Girl Scouts. Well, it’s funny now, but believe me, it wasn’t at the time. So here’s the deal…everyone had finally talked me into going to camp. Unfortunately, it was also right around the time I had watched Friday the 13th. Remember the lake scene with Jason coming up out of the water after we thought he was dead. See where this is going?
I swear that the camp we attended looked just like Camp Crystal Lake where they had filmed the movie and I was convinced that Jason was going to come out at night and kill us all. I was so scared that I woke up everyone in the group when I had to go to the bathroom. My position was that if I was going to die at the hands of Jason, I wasn’t going alone. Nothing personal, but it’s really like Tina Turner says…”What’s love got to do with it?” Here’s a HINT for you…If you see blood, don’t investigate – RUN! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE FOR GOODNESS SAKE!!!!!
Well, I’m about out of soap for the day. But before I go, I promised you a little “Trick or Treat”. So, here’s the deal…
Tell me your favorite movie – whether it’s in regards to Halloween or Paranormal in general and you’ll be entered in the contest to win the following prizes.
Of course, this is an overnight contest; therefore, you have until 10:00 AM (CST) on Thursday morning to leave a response. The lucky winner will be selected using the True Random Number Generator from RANDOM.ORG.

Okay, favorite movie. Night of the Comet wins as the first scary movie I ever watched. Well, the first I ever watched the whole way through and it holds a special place in my heart. As a plus, I think it got me started on a life-changing Zombie obsession that lingers to this day.
Any of the Nightmare on Elm Street movies. they scared me to death…I hate that! LOL
My favorite movie is Chocolat. Johnny Depp as a gypsy. YuM!
It’s sort-of paranormal in a subtle way, but I love the message. It’s about acceptance of other people, regardless of their quirks.
And a Raven isn’t bad luck for me at all. I have a rare picture of me and a black raven hanging out together on a stone wall. Remind me and I’ll post it sometime.
Hey Blackraven!
I love your position… “…if I was going to die at the hands of Jason, I wasn’t going alone.” I feel the same way:) My friends and I played with a Ouija board once in elementary, but nothing happened like we thought or at least not with the board. The next day a dead bat was found where we were playing with the board.
Well my favorite Halloween movie would have to be the Michael Meyer’s Halloween movies. I love that they’re not only scary but they have mystery to them as well. You can’t go wrong with a classic like that.

Best scary movie ever, the original Alien. The suspense of never knowing when it was going to pop out was perfect. I still remember exactly what my husband (then boyfriend) was wearing because I spent so much time staring at going “is it gone yet?”
As for favorite in general, that’s harder but Lord of The Rings sits right up there.
I am a Highlander fan as well. So sad when it ended.
OK who can resist any Johnny Depp movie or Brad Pitt movie not me. But my favorite movies that I love watching at Halloween time. Disney’s Mr Boogedy they no longer play this and Beetlejuice. My kids refuse to watch Beetlejuice with me and Underworld is awesome they will watch those over and over again but not Michael Keaton weirdos!!
My favorite Halloween movie is Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis. That Michael Myers was one scary guy.
Hi Blackraven,
some of my favorite movies scary movies are Nightmare on Elm Street, Sleepaway Camp and Cujo. The one that totally freaked me out was When A Stranger Calls. I actually watched that when I was babysitting..big mistake..
“The calls coming from inside the house”
Still gives me the creeps.
My favorite is Dracula starring Frank Langella. DAG – he was hot!!
Well, I am not a scary movie person. They made me watch Halloween and Psycho for a class in high school and write a comparison paper. I had nightmares for months!!! Though it was the best class I ever took – Mystery and Science Fiction – we read a LOT of great books!!
So since I don;t do scary, can I just put a favorite movie or two? How about Armageddeon and Good Will Hunting – those are two of my favorites. And I just loved Water for Chocolate!
Our tradition is to watch the whole Alien series on Halloween weekend.
My favorite paranormal movie (at this moment) are the Underworld movies. Love them! One of the best vampire and werewolf movies of the last few years!
My favorite paranormal movie is probably the Underworld movies. I love them, and Kate Beckinsdale is amazing!
It’s a toss up between the first two Aliens and the first two Resident Evil movies. Not so much scary, but it will startle you.

I love action, adventure, scary, heartpounding thrill rides! I loved Paranormal Activity. I have seen Die Hard at least 25 times. All of the Harry Potter films. As far as favorite, I have to say the Lord of the Rings trilogy. It is so epic, so beautiful, so close to the written story and so, well so I just love it.

Good evening everyone,
Thanks for dropping by. Okay, I must admit that I love Nightmare on ELM Street. Freddy Kruger is the bomb. Ash, thanks for saying that Blackraven’s are good luck. I happen to think so myself. I’m was also sad when the Highlander ended, but I guess all good thing must come to an end. Halloween is still one of my favorites and reminds me of the time I snuck out the back of the house and went around the front to scare the pants off of my cousin. Of course, my parents happen to drive up just as I was doing it and I had to walk my cousin home. LOL! Thankfully, we didn’t live too far from each other.
Underworld is definitely one of my all time favorites. You guys totally rock and I appreciate you sharing your stories with me.
Please count me in
Can’t wait to read this one
Scariest movie-ever-for me was the original version of The Hitcher, the one with Rutger Hauer. I made my dad and my dates pass all hitch-hikers for a long time after that one.
Hmmm I think that my favorite paranormal movie would have to be Twilight, although I loved the books sooo much more.
Friday the 13th series would be my favorite. I must have seen it a hundred times. Now my grandson loves the series as well. We watch it every year around halloween.
I do not really like scary movies but love suspense. I just seen Incesption and it was fab. very interesting.
I know it’s a kids movie but I think that the Harry Potter series was very well done. Each one more interesting than the last.
100% Jason
The first movie to scare the crap out of me was When a Stranger Calls because I was big on babysitting before that. Then Psycho did me in for showers (only baths for years).
I loved The Highlander, he was one hot immortal….sigh…

Wow, what a great list of must see scary flicks. I think I’ve just added a whole bunch to my list for this month.
For me the one I cannot go October without watching is Practical Magic. I love it!
I think the Blackraven has chosen a winner and will be back shortly with the lucky person’s name. Good luck everyone and I hope you’ll keep coming back the rest of the month for the great guests and many prizes.
